CNN Go ranked America’s most sinful cities. One for each of the 7 deadly sins. Chicago was named most Gluttonous City.
Chicago is definitely the food city of America. After all, Chicago is named after the onion that dominated the swampy area that Chicago was build on. Chicago’s 3,500 fast food joints, nearly 4,000 restaurants and 25.2 percent obesity rate helped it give a healthy 8th most gluttonous city in America according to The Daily Meal. But the finishing touches of being the home of amazing hotdogs, deep dish pizzas, one mean Italian beef, home of the best restaurants in the world/ fine dinning, some of the world’s biggest food fests (Taste of Chicago, Baconfest), and a history of being the slaughterhouse/ butchery of America, has helped sealed Chicago’s rank at #1 for CNN Go. Not to mention we’re the home of McDonald’s headquarters in Oakbrook, IL. That’s right, The Big Apple has nothing on the Smelly Onion.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is produced by British magazine Restaurant based on a poll of international chefs, restaurateurs, gourmands and restaurant critics. In addition to the main ranking, the Chef’s Choice list is based on votes from the fifty head chefs from the restaurants on the previous year’s list.
